Writer, Educator, Husband and Dad living in rural WNY. MFA in Creative & Professional Writing at Western Connecticut State University.

Intro

I’ve had a passion for writing since the first grade when I wrote a story about my friends fighting crime and solving mysteries. Think Hardy Boys meets Rocky Balboa meets The Lion, the Witch, & the Wardrobe. It was silly — I know... But, my friends liked it and my Mom loved it. The spark was lit.

I specialize in memoir writing and recently earned an MFA in Creative and Professional Writing at Western Connecticut State University. My thesis was a collection of stories that explored my experiences as a younger version of myself. It’s a retrospective look at growing up in the 80s and 90s, and how those lessons have shaped me as a father, a husband, and a man navigating this ever-changing world.

Creative Writing

I write mostly memoir and poetry where I reflect on my experiences as a father, son, husband, and brother. Sometimes I dabble in the occasional fiction prose piece. My most recent venture on this journey of the keyboard is travel writing — documenting family day trips and extended vacations, in addition to recording my experience as Buffalo sports fanatic. #GoBills

Teaching

I spent 12 years in the high school classroom before leveling up to teach college students the art and craft of writing, both professionally and creatively.  I currently teach at SUNY Fredonia and St. Bonaventure University.

Professional Writing

My first post-collegiate job was at a daily newspaper, where as a copy editor I learned how to write and edit copy on deadline from experienced journalists for close to six years. During this time, I also wrote a good number of news features without my name attached.

More recently, I have worked as an independent contractor, helping small business owners edit their website content, promotional materials and social media messaging. I reside in Western New York, but am available to consult on remote writing and editing projects.
